Homeplace on GR invites all to join in the mission

By Billy Joe Fudge, Homeplace on Green River Board President

The Homeplace on Green River annual winter meeting is scheduled for January 25, 2020 at 6pmCT/7pmET at the Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairgrounds Street (Highway 206), Columbia, KY.

Its purpose is to keep those interested in Homeplace well informed about the activities and opportunities available at the farm. The meeting is open to all!

Homeplace's mission is to protect and promote rural American culture through the sustainability of agriculture and natural resources, utilizing education, conservation, and the economic opportunities of agritourism.

Homeplace showcases the rural history of southcentral Kentucky with emphasis on Adair, Green and Taylor counties.

Here are a few areas where you can help:

*Maintaining the landscaping at Homeplace

*Keeping our buildings safe and in good repair

*Working with school children who come to Homeplace by the bus loads during the school year

*Identifying grant opportunities and helping prepare grant applications

*Helping establish and maintain a "Friends of Homeplace" program

*Helping with activities at the Homeplace show barn.

Won't you please join us in this endeavor? Homeplace has grown significantly since its inception in September, 2001. Our growth is dependent upon volunteers and gift dollars.

Please contact Billy Joe Fudge by email at billy.libil@gmail.com if you plan to attend the meeting or if you'd like more information about serving in any of these areas.
