LWC Men's and Women's Basketball hosts Pikeville today

The No. 19-ranked men's basketball team and No. 14-ranked women's basketball team continue conference play this afternoon at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY, as they face Pikeville (KY) beginning at 2pmCT with the women's matchup followed by the men's matchup at 4pmCT.

The No. 14-ranked Blue Raiders women's basketball team (14-3, 3-1 MSC) completed an upset victory over No. 7-ranked Shawnee State (Ohio) 87-77 on Thursday Night. Reagan Turner led the way in scoring with her season-high of 30 points, as J'Nayah Hall stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and four assists.



Turner leads LWC on offense averaging 19 points per game. Turner has scored 20 or more points in four straight games, and currently sits atop the Mid-South Conference in points per game. DeAsia Outlaw carries heavy weight on the defensive end of the floor for Lindsey Wilson, as she holds team leads in rebounds per game (7), steals per game (2.3), and blocks per game (2.1). Hall enters the matchup with Pikeville averaging 10.4 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game, while Jynea Harris holds a 10.1 points per game average and 5.9 rebounds per game average.

The Pikeville women's basketball team (13-6, 3-2 MSC) tasted defeat at the hands of No. 1-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) 78-56 in their last outing on Thursday night.

This season, the Bears rank second in the NAIA DI in total blocks (80) and eighth in blocks per game (4.2) as Elisabeth Latham leads the way with 25 for a 1.3 blocks per game average. Brianna Burbridge also carries weight on the defensive end leading the team in steals per game (2) while also leading the way in rebounds per game (7.8). On offense, Sierra Feltner is averaging a team-high 11.7 points per game for the Bears who average 76.9 points per game as a team.

The No. 19-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team (12-6, 1-3 MSC) was defeated by Shawnee State on Thursday night by a final score of 95-59 at Biggers Sports Center.

This season, Reece Brooks serves as the anchor for the Blue Raiders as he holds team leads in points per game (19.5), assists per game (5.1), and steals per game (1.5). Brooks currently ranks fifth in the NAIA DI in total assists (93) and total 3-pointers made (54) while shooting a team best 40% from behind the arc. Malik Hart and Payton Cundiff each tallied double-digit scoring performances while both shooting 4-of-7 from the field in the loss to Shawnee State. Matthew Eldridge has grabbed a team best 131 rebounds this season for a 7.2 per game average.

The No. 4-ranked Pikeville men's basketball team (15-2, 3-2 MSC) fell victim to an upset defeat at the hands of Campbellsville 72-66 on the road Thursday night.

The Bears have produced hot shooting from the field so far this season, as they lead the NAIA DI in field goal percentage (0.541), while also sitting atop the Mid-South Conference in scoring defense per game (62.3). Jordan Perry has garnered three 30-point games this season and leads UPIKE averaging 19 points per game. Jazz Parker is dishing out a team-high 3.2 assists per game while also leading the way averaging 1.5 steals per game.

Live video and live stats will be available for the game. The women's game is set to begin at 2pmCT followed by the men's game at 4pmCT at Biggers Sports Center.
