Georgetown College offering free tuition to all Casey Co. students

Georgetown College announced this month that it is offering free tuition to Casey County students. The new scholarship will begin in 2020 and will be up for renewal in 2030. Georgetown College has also annouced full tuition scholarships for students from Scott, Owen, and Franklin Counties.

Beginning in fall 2020, any newly admitted, full-time, residential student who either graduated from a high school in Casey County after attending for their senior year, or who has been a resident in Casey County for at least one year, will receive the Legacy and Legends Scholarship, which covers the full cost of tuition for four years at Georgetown College. Other scholarships and grants for which the student is eligible can be stacked on top of this scholarship and applied to room and board or other fees.

Georgetown College's ties to Casey County trace all the way back to 1898, with the founding of Middleburg Academy. Like the college, Middleburg Academy was founded by the Kentucky Baptists with the purpose of preparing students for life's pursuits in a Christian setting. The academy sent students to Georgetown College for study throughout its existence. Middleburg Academy would later close, and the Legacy and Legends Scholarship serves to extend and build upon its legacy and connection to Georgetown College.
