Letter: Why do people do the things they do?

I wonder why people do the things they do?

I learned early not to ask much out of life as I most likely wasn't going to get it. But I don't understand why some people don't want me to have what little I do.

I had a maple tree in a flowerpot on the porch at work. It had come up between the rock that is a step and the porch, and was maybe three inches tall when I noticed it about three years ago. It had grown to around fifteen inches tall and I was going to put in my yard this coming spring.

Well, that little simple plan is now in tatters as someone has stolen the maple tree . . . I don't know if they even knew it was a maple tree as the leaves had fallen, or if they thought it was just a useless stem and they wanted the pot. Either way, it saddened my day to discover this small piece of my life was gone.
