LWC Women's Basketball fall 86-65 to top-ranked CU By Brady Budke The No. 15-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team was defeated by No. 1-ranked Campbellsville 86-65 on Saturday afternoon at Biggers Sports Center. Turnovers hurt the Blue Raiders in the contest, as they recorded their season-high of 22 against a tough Lady Tiger defense. Reagan Turner scored a game-high 21 points on 6-of-14 shooting as Haeli Howard finished with 15 points of her own. DeAsia Outlaw added 12 points and seven rebounds, while J'Nayah Hall chipped in 10 points and eight boards. The Blue Raiders shot 42.9 percent from the floor as they connected on 24-of-56 attempts. The Lindsey Wilson defense forced 17 turnovers, but the Lady Tigers shot 47 percent on 31-of-66 shooting. The Blue Raiders and the Lady Tigers were in a high intensity back-and-forth battle to begin the game, as the score favored the Lady Tigers 19-16 after one quarter. However, the Lady Tigers made offense tough for the Blue Raiders, as they forced nine first quarter turnovers. Hall and Turner each led the first quarter scoring with six apiece. The second quarter saw Campbellsville create some comfortable breathing room, as they led 36-20 with 5:54 remaining in the quarter. The Lady Tigers kept their foot on the pedal all the way to the half, as they led 48-26 in front of a high energy Biggers Sports Center. The turnovers continued to pile up for Lindsey Wilson, as they recorded five in the second quarter to move the total to 14 for the game. Hall led the scoring going into the half for Lindsey Wilson with eight points, while Madison Faulkner and Savannah Gregory each led Campbellsville with 10 points respectively. Despite a dominant second quarter, the Lady Tigers came out of the halftime locker room cold, as the Blue Raiders cut the deficit to 13 with 4:16 remaining. However, the Blue Raiders were unable to connect on late quarter field goal attempts which put them down 63-45 at the end of the quarter despite outscoring Campbellsville by four. Turner tallied a strong third quarter, notching 11 points in the quarter. Campbellsville won the scoring battle 23-20 in the fourth quarter, ultimately locking up the 86-65 victory in the top 15 matchup. Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Thursday, December 12th where they take on the Virgin Islands at Biggers Sports Center. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m. CT.
