National Memorial Program donates holiday wreaths to KSP By Trooper Robert Purdy Frankfort, KY - The holiday season can be a dreaded time for families who have lost someone dear to them, especially those who died in the line of duty. A simple item or symbol can remind a family member or friend of a special memory during the holidays. This year, the Kentucky State Police received 37 holiday wreaths, in remembrance of the fallen troopers and officers within the agency who lost their lives serving the Commonwealth. Donated by The Fallen Heroes Wreath Program, the purpose is to honor the sacrifice made by law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty, by placing wreaths on their final resting places during the holiday season. A nationally recognized charity, The Fallen Heroes Wreath Program was started by the family of Philadelphia Police Officer, John Pawlowski, who was killed in the line of duty on February 13, 2009. These beautiful wreaths feature a custom blue ribbon with the trooper or officer's name and end of watch date attached in the center. This year, the holiday wreaths will be placed at each grave site of fallen KSP units in honor of Trooper Cameron Ponder, whose end of watch was September 13, 2015.
