Lindsey Wilson hosts St. Francis on Saturday

By Christopher Coombs

For the fifth time in program history, the Lindsey Wilson football team is headed to the NAIA Football Championship Series Playoffs as the national office announced the championship field of 16 and the first round pairings on Sunday.

The Blue Raiders face St. Francis (IN) on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Blue Raider Stadium. The meeting is the first-ever between the two programs.

Lindsey Wilson (10-0, 6-0 MSC Bluegrass Division) received an automatic bid into the national postseason as champions of the MSC Bluegrass. It marks the second undefeated regular season in program history for the Blue Raiders. LWC is 3-4 overall, including a 3-1 record at home during the playoffs.

St. Francis (7-2, 4-2 Mid-States Football Association) earned a bid into the championship field as an at large selection. The Cougars' two losses on the season came against then No. 6-ranked Marian (Ind.) and No. 18 Siena Heights (Mich.).

St. Francis is making its 19th appearance in the national postseason, boasting a 32-16 record.

Kickoff time for the 2019 NAIA FCS First Round matchup between Lindsey Wilson and St. Francis will be released tomorrow afternoon.

A full preview of the matchup will be released on lindseyathletics.com later this week.
