CPD: Inmates captured, firearm recovered By Officer Adam Cravens Columbia Police Department Escaped inmates Ellis and Hollan were both apprehended in Clinton County on Sunday, November 17, 2019, by the Clinton County Sheriff's Office. Officer Jordan Dean traveled with Officer Jamie Cole to Clinton County and transported both men back to Adair County. After interviewing inmates it was discovered once they had walked away from Class D they came into possession of a pickup truck in the Cane Valley community. Ellis advised interviewing officers that he had discovered a rifle that was in the truck and discarded it by throwing it out a window. Columbia Police Officers on the evening of November 17 went to Cane Valley and began a search for said firearm in an area described by Ellis. The firearm was found in a shallow creek bed just off of Cane Valley Road and recovered by Officers Jamie Cole, Jordan Dean and Adam Cravens. There are now pending charges concerning possession of the pickup truck and for the recovered firearm. The Columbia Police Department is carrying the charges.
