Pete Ray Cook, 80, Russell Springs, KY (1939-2019)

Pete Ray Cook of Russell Springs passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at the UK Healthcare in Lexington. He was 80 years old.

Graveside services will be held for Pete Ray Cook at 2pmCT on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the Akersville Cemetery in Fountain Run, KY.

Visitation will be from 9amCT to 11amCT at the Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs.


He was born January 22, 1939 in Macon County, TN to the late Joe Jackson & Etta Beatrice Cherry Cook.

He was a plant manager for Cudahy Foods and a member of Liberty General Baptist Church.

Survivors include:
  • His wife, Peggy Cook, of Russell Springs
  • Two children: Rita (Steve) Branscum, Russell Springs, and Jeff Cook, Russell Springs
  • Four grandchildren: Kristen Branscum, Lexington, KY, Joshua (Kara) Branscum, Russell Springs, Jordan Cook, Jacksonville, Florida, and Dalton Cook, Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Two great grandchildren: Porter Grace Branscum, Knox Branscum
  • His sister: Lillian Meadors, Akersville, KY
  • His brother: Paul (Sue) Cook , Lafayette, TN
Memorials suggested to the Russell County High School FFA. These can be made at the funeral home.
