City of Columbia October highlights from the Mayor City of Columbia Mayor Pam Hoots shares a list of activities from the prior month at each Council meeting. At Monday night's November meeting, she provided the following list of projects working and/or completed for the month of October, 2019. Click 'read more' for the Mayor's highlights. October 2019 report By Mayor Pamela Hoots The new mural was in place prior to Downtown Days. Quite a number of people had their picture made in front of it. Lots of good comments. Gutters cleaned out at Little League Park and at the City Park. Playground equipment installed at City Park. Handicapped swings installed at Jim Blair Center. We have issued an updated letter to the Public Service Commission on the status of findings during their audit in July-August. Limbs picked up across town (around 40 loads). City police officers spoke during the Adair County Churches Addiction Recovery Team Meeting. Mayor attended also; as well as previous meetings. North 61 gas extension completed. We have several more projects in line for completion. Approximately 200 valves inspected by gas department. A new person has joined us through Goodwill Industries. He is working with the gas department/parks and recreation. He is currently painting gas meters. Approximately 50 completed. Lots more to go. The City gas department cleaned around the building on a rainy day; and, have a dumpster full of scrap that had been stored in back and was discarded. Our thanks to all who were involved in the Downtown Days program in Columbia. Lots of work by a lot of people. Down spouts at the Little League Park completed. Changed filter at Trabue Russell House. Worked on gutters at Little League Park (for concession stand). Several loads of brush picked up. Around forty. Lights turned in to Kentucky Utilities for repair. Approximately 15. New fence being installed at city park. Several street lights turned-in for repair (Tutt Street, WAIN Street, Public Square, etc.). Potholes repaired during month. (Jones Street). Drainage issue worked on in Green Hills Subdivision. Other tile/ditchline work completed in town. (Pyles Court). North 61 gas line extension completed during month. Several more requests in line for extension. November 8 will be next Food Truck event in conjunction with To The Nines. Sidewalk being finished on Young Street/Lowe's Lane. 15 bags of trash picked up. (10 on Hurt Street). Scrap metal taken to scrap yard by Street Department. Funding being put into city account. The regulator stations for gas department trimmed and mowed. Working on gas line extension to North Highway 55. Restrooms winterized at the city park.
