LWC Women turn up defense in 89-43 win over Conquistadors By Christopher Coombs No. 15-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball put on a defensive clinic tonight in an 89-43 win over Florida Memorial at Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders (1-0) limited the Conquistadors to 26.7 percent (16-of-60) shooting from the field while forcing 31 turnovers in the season-opening win. Lindsey Wilson scored 37 points off the Florida Memorial (1-3) miscues. A trio of Blue Raiders scored double digits while seven players tallied at least seven points in the win. Reagan Turner poured in a game-high 18 points while DeAsia Outlaw and Haeli Howard scored 14 and 13 respectively. Kearah Henry, Jynea Harris, Natalie Pierce and Rose Mary Jackson all scored seven points off the Lindsey Wilson bench. The Blue Raider reserves outscored their counterparts 33-18 in the game. Lindsey Wilson scored the game's first 14 points en route to a 28-10 first-quarter lead. The Blue Raiders -- thanks to its defense that finished with 21 steals -- extended the lead to as many as 36 points in the second quarter. The Blue Raiders shot nearly 77 percent in the second frame, making 10-of-13 shots during the 10-minute stretch. Lindsey Wilson ultimately led by 47 points late in the second half en route to the 46-point win. The Blue Raiders finished the game hitting 44.9 percent (31-of-69) of their shots, including 10 for 25 from beyond the 3-point arc.
