LWC Men's Basketball overpowers Ohio State-Mansfield 116-35

The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team kicked off their 2019-20 campaign in style as they rolled in a 116-35 win over Ohio-State Mansfield. LWC never trailed in their season opener.

The Blue Raiders (1-0) took full control from the opening tip as they went on a 21-0 run to open the game. Kel Stotts and Jordan Hamlette led the charge as Stotts scored 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field. Hamlette was a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor with seven points.



Lindsey Wilson shot 52.6 percent from the field, connecting on 50-of-95 attempts for the game. LWC forced the Mavericks (0-2) into a 28.8 percent shooting mark as they would turn the ball over 36 times. The Blue Raiders capitalized on the OSUM miscues, recording 26 steals - led by Stotts and Hamlette who had five each - and scoring 52 of their points off turnovers.

Six Blue Raiders finished the contest scoring in double figures. Stotts produced a game-high 25 points as Reece Brooks and Kameron Mack finished with 14. Hamlette tallied 13 points and a game-high eight assists as Matthew Eldridge picked up the first double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Ryan Friday also finished with 11 points.

Ohio State-Mansfield scored their first basket of the contest at 14:51 but the Blue Raiders produced another run, this one 13-0 to lead 34-2 with just under ten to play in the first half. Lindsey Wilson would take a commanding 58-11 lead into the break.

Stotts paced Lindsey Wilson's offensive production with 15 points in the half as Hamlette and Payton Cundiff each chipped in with nine. The Blue Raiders managed 48.9 percent shooting from the floor adding a 36.4 mark from beyond the arc. Ohio State-Mansfield made just 5-of-24 shots in the half as they turned the ball over 21 times.

Lindsey Wilson would continue their dominance in the second half as they shot 56.3 percent from the floor to pour in 58 more points over the final 20 minutes of action. Ohio State-Mansfield improved their efficiency in the half as they shot 35.7 percent from the floor for 24 points.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Monday, Oct. 28 when they take on Florida National at Bigger Sports Center. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT.
