LWC Soccer travels to Life tonight

The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team and No. 6-ranked Men's Soccer team hits the road tonight to take on Life (Ga.) in a Mid-South Conference battle at Lupo Family Field in Marietta, Georgia beginning at 4pmCT with the women's matchup, followed by the men's matchup at 6pmCT.



The Blue Raiders women's soccer team (9-3-1, 5-0-0 MSC) returns to the field after a 1-0 defeat on the road to No. 16-ranked Georgia Gwinnett on October 18th. The shutout loss to the Grizzlies marks only the second match this season the Blue Raiders have failed to score a goal in a match.

Sophomore forward Sina Cavelti serves as the anchor for the Lindsey Wilson offense, leading the team with 10 goals, 24 points, 57 total shots, and 27 shots on goal. Cavelti currently averages 1.85 points per game, which ranks second in the Mid-South Conference. Senior midfielder Emilie Liljered has notched eight goals and two assists this season and sits close behind Cavelti with 18 points for the Blue Raiders. Sophomore midfielder Thea Birgerud holds the team lead with six assists and has recorded a goal and an assist in two of the last three matches. On defense, Junior goalkeeper Eveljn Frigotto has 60 saves on the season, which sits fifth best in the Mid-South Conference.

The Life women's soccer team (0-12-0, 0-4-0 MSC) returns to action after falling to Campbellsville (Ky.) 6-1 at home October 19th.

The Running Eagles have been outscored by their opponents this season 48-8 and are currently sitting on a 15-match losing streak dating back to last season. The freshman duo of forward Sarah Slingluff and midfielder Alexandra Collighan lead the charge on offense for Life, as they currently sit as the only two Running Eagles with double-digit shots and shots-on-goal this season. Collighan leads her team in goals (4), assists (2), points (10), and total shots (32). Slingluff leads the way in shots-on-goal (18) and trails close behind Collighan in goals (3), points (6), and total shots (26). Junior goalkeeper Julia Bernhardt and freshman goalkeeper Julia Vila Punset have combined for 87 saves this season.

The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team (9-2-0, 5-0 MSC) returns to the field tonight after defeating Cumberland (Tenn.) 2-0 on October 15th at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

This season, senior forward Akean Shackleford leads the NAIA in shots per game (5.890) and sits second in shots-on-goal per game (3.0). The offensive trio of Shackleford, freshman midfielder Oscar Dueso, and senior midfielder Bruno Henrique have combined for 70 of the teams 113 points this season. On defense, junior goalkeeper David Coffey has tallied 33 saves en route to a 7-0-0 record.

The Life men's soccer team (7-3-0, 4-0 MSC) comes into tonight's match on a four-match winning streak while defeating No. 25-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) 2-1 in double overtime in their last match on October 19th.

The Running Eagles have 12 players who have recorded a goal this season, led by junior defender Martin Cortes with five. Junior forward Thierry Jules has fired a team-high 34 shots and 20 shots-on-goal this season, while also having tallied four goals and two assists. On defense, sophomore goalkeeper Fabian Pekruhl has notched 39 saves and two shutouts while ranking fourth in the Mid-South Conference averaging 4.33 saves per game.

Live video and live stats will be available for both matches. The women's match is scheduled to begin at 4pmCT while the men's match is scheduled to begin at 6pmCT at Lupo Family Field.
