LWC Volleyball faces Cumberlands in MSC battle By Brady Budke The No. 13-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team returns to action tonight to face Mid-South Conference foe Cumberlands (KY) at 6:30pmCT at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY. In their last match, the Blue Raiders (18-4, 9-2 MSC) defeated Brescia (Ky.) at home in four-sets. Lindsey Wilson was led on offense by sophomore Alexis Smith with 15 kills, and freshman Camryn Rich with 18 assists. On defense, sophomore Lauren Larzelere lead the team with 12 digs, while Rich and sophomore Abby Grubbs trailed close behind her with 10 each. The Blue Raiders are led on offense this season by freshman Kasia Niderla, who ranks first in the NAIA in hitting percentage (.431). Niderla also ranks second in the Mid-South Conference averaging 4.3 kills/set. Sophomore Autumn Proctor leads Lindsey Wilson with 451 assists, while Rich trails behind her with 286. On defense, Lindsey Wilson is led by Larzelere who has recorded 302 digs this season, with junior Peyton Johnston sitting right behind with 295. Niderla leads the team with 74 total blocks and is averaging 1.0 blocks per set, which is fourth best in the Mid-South Conference. Cumberlands (12-9, 3-6 MSC) comes into tonight's match on a two-match losing streak, including a four-set defeat to Mid-South Conference foe Cumberland (Tenn.) in their last match on October 9th. The Patriots have five players this season who have surpassed the 100 kills mark on offense, led by senior Mackenzie Koch who has recorded 174. Senior Anna Zuniga has recorded a team-high 411 assists and is averaging 5.4 assists per set. As a team, Cumberlands is averaging 11.1 kills per set and 10.3 assists per set. On defense, senior Leah Crist sits third best in the NAIA with a team-high 110 total blocks and fourth best in the NAIA averaging 1.4 blocks per set. The Patriots have five players who have passed 100 digs on the season, led by junior Jennifer Stein with 253 and freshman Juliet Montague close behind with 244.
