LWC Soccer faces Pikeville at home tonight By Brady Budke The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team and the No. 7-ranked men's soccer team return home to Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY, tonight to take on Pikeville (KY) beginning at 3pmCT with the women's matchup, followed by the men's matchup at 5pmCT. The Blue Raiders women's soccer team (7-2-1, 3-0-0 MSC) returns home after a 6-0 victory over Mid-South Conference foe Shawnee State (Ohio) on Tuesday night. Lindsey Wilson is lead on offense by sophomore Sina Cavelti, who leads the team with nine goals and sits tied with Thea Birgerud for the team lead with three assists. Cavelti recorded her first career hat trick in the last match against Shawnee State and currently sits tied for the lead in the Mid-South Conference with 21 points this season. Junior goalkeeper Eveljn Frigotto has 50 saves on the season, which sits fourth best in the Mid-South Conference. The Pikeville women's soccer team (5-5-0, 0-2-0 MSC) returns to action after being defeated by No. 20-ranked Cumberland (Tenn.) 10-0 on October 8th. The Bears have seven players this season who have scored at least one goal, while eight have also recorded at least one assist. Freshman Emily Branham leads the way on offense with eight goals and 17 points. Branham also leads Pikeville in total shots (23) and shots on goal (14). Freshman goalkeeper Elizabeth Lukens averages 5.9 saves per game and has recorded 59 saves this season while allowing 26 goals in ten matches played. The Lindsey Wilson Men's soccer team (7-2-0, 3-0-0 MSC) defeated Shawnee State on the road Tuesday night by a final of 3-1. On offense, senior Akean Shackleford and freshman Oscar Dueso lead the charge for the Blue Raiders. Shackleford has a team high 11 goals and 26 points this season, while Dueso trails close behind with 10 goals and 23 points. Shackleford currently sits second in the NAIA in points per game (3.71), while Dueso sits tied for 13th averaging 2.88 points per game. Junior goalkeeper David Coffey has tallied 26 saves and holds a season record of 6-0-0 this season. The Pikeville men's soccer team (3-6-1, 0-2-0 MSC) was defeated by Cumberland 3-0 on October 8th. The Bears have been outscored this season by their opponents 22-11 and have lost five of their last six matches. Senior Eric Bernabeu leads Pikeville in goals (5), total shots (19), and shots on goal (13) this season.
