LWC Volleyball defeats Pikeville in three-sets By Brady Budke The No. 13-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team defeated Pikeville (Ky.) in a three-set Mid-South Conference battle on Thursday night at Biggers Sports Center. Freshman Kasia Niderla led the Blue Raiders with 15 kills, which marks the 13th straight match she's lead the way for Lindsey Wilson. Sophomore Autumn Proctor tallied a team high 21 assists, while sophomore Lauren Larzelere managed 16 digs on the defensive side for Lindsey Wilson. Set one saw both teams battling back and forth for the upper hand, as the match was tied at 13 apiece in the middle stages. The Blue Raiders began creating distance and were able to take a four point lead at the second called timeout late in the match. A strong finish for Lindsey Wilson secured set one by a final of 25-19. Alexis Smith led Lindsey Wilson on offense with six kills, while Camryn Rich and Proctor combined for the teams 11 assists. The Blue Raiders hit .176, while limiting the Bears to a .079 mark. Despite losing the first set, Pikeville continued to battle in set two, trailing Lindsey Wilson by two points midway through. However, the Blue Raiders would end the set exploding for 11 straight points to win 25-13 over the Bears. Niderla recorded eight kills, while Proctor tallied eight assists. Abby Grubbs lead Lindsey Wilson with five digs on defensive. Set three saw the Blue Raiders gain distance early with a 10-5 lead. Despite a strong final effort from Pikeville, Lindsey Wilson took the driver's seat the rest of the way en route to a 25-11 set three victory, marking the ninth Mid-South Conference victory of the season. Niderla had six kills in the set for LWC, while Proctor led with seven assists. On defense, Grubbs and Larzelere recorded three digs apiece for Lindsey Wilson.
