Letter: A fitting tribute

Victoria Pike writes:
What a nice tribute to three people that did so much in their community. Cynthia, Ivy, and Willard did what many more should. They got involved and made a difference.

I know for a fact that Miss Cynthia gave her all up to the end. We attended Fiscal Court meeting the night before she got sick and another meeting the night before that. She was very passionate about her work at the food pantry. She wanted to do all she could to see that the children of Adair County didn't go to bed hungry. Her shoes will be difficult to fill. And on occasion those shoes didn't match.

On one occasion she was in such a rush to get to a Fiscal Court meeting that those shoes didn't match and that was the big story Ed reported from that meeting. She was indeed a breath of fresh air and is greatly missed by her family and friends. --Victoria

Vicky Pike requested this look back at generosity in action

2019-10-10 - Columbia - Photo ColumbiaMagazine.com archive photo .
Seems just like yesterday that volunteer Cynthia Rowe was appealing to Adair County Fiscal Court to help out in the areas of feeding our people from the Food Pantry and a place for young people to play at Blair Park. She was so busy helping others that she rushed out in unmatched shoes at a Fiscal Court meeting and it made Ed Waggener's news coverage in this look back in ColumbiaMagazine.com archives requested by Vicky Pike to go with her letter, 'a fitting tribute'. Thanks to all who are stepping up to fill the shoes of volunteers who have passed. Please remember to say thanks to every sponsor of ColumbiaMagazine.com for helping to provide space to share needs and solutions of our region. - LW
