LWC volleyball defeats Shawnee State in three sets By Brady Budke The No. 13-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team defeated Shawnee State (Ohio) in a three-set Mid-South Conference battle Saturday afternoon at Biggers Sports Center. Freshman Kasia Niderla led the Blue Raiders with 11 kills, which marks the 11th straight match she's lead the way for Lindsey Wilson. Freshman Camryn Rich tallied a team high 19 assists, while sophomore Lauren Larzelere managed 15 digs on the defensive side for Lindsey Wilson. Set one saw both teams battling for the upper hand, as the match was tied at 10 apiece early. The set would continue into a stalemate until the Blue Raiders were able to take a four point lead late at the 20 point mark, which would eventually transition into a 25-19 set victory. Alexis Smith and Niderla led Lindsey Wilson on offense with four kills, while Rich recorded six assists. The Blue Raiders hit .257, while limiting the Bears to a .167 mark. The second set was all Blue Raiders from the start, gaining a 14-6 advantage early on which would transition into an 11 point cushion at the 20 point mark. The set ended in a 25-13 Blue Raiders victory. Burke recorded five kills, while Rich tallied six assists. Larzelere lead the Blue Raiders with seven digs on defensive. Set three saw the Blue Raiders gain distance early once again with a 12-2 lead. Lindsey Wilson took the driver's seat the rest of the way, limiting the Bears to under 10 points for the eventual 25-9 set three victory, marking the seventh Mid-South Conference victory of the season. Niderla had five kills in the set for LWC, while Rich led with seven assists. On defense, Abby Grubbs recorded five digs leading the way for Lindsey Wilson.
