LWC Swimming hosts Cumberlands

The men's and women's swimming team hosts Mid-South Conference competitor Cumberlands (Ky.) for the first dual of the season Saturday at noon CT in the Holloway Center Natatorium in the Holloway Health & Wellness Center, 399 Williams St., Columbia, KY.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action after competing in the LWC Fall Frenzy this past weekend. The men's team finished in second place, while the women's team finished in third.


The Blue Raider men's swimming team recorded nine national A standard times and six B-cuts. William Thilwind tallied two individual A-cut times in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 53.60 and 1:58.32, respectively. The other seven A standards were recorded by relays.

Saturday marks the eighth meeting between the men's programs in a dual meet, with Cumberlands leading the series 6-1. The most recent matchup resulted in a 169-89 Patriot victory last season.

Lindsey Wilson women's swimming is back in the pool after recording 17 national A standard times and five B-cuts this past weekend. Jessica Macdonald earned three individual A-cuts between the 200-yard individual medley (2:13.28), 100-yard freestyle (54.94) and 200-yard freestyle (1:59.00). Carlene Taylor garnered two A-cuts by swimming a 25.57 in the 50-yard freestyle and 55.56 in the100-yard freestyle. Narjiss Bourbouh collected two A standard times in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.19 and the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:18.02. The ten remaining A-cuts were swum by relays.

Saturday marks the seventh meeting between the women's programs in a dual meet, with the Patriots being undefeated. Last season's matchup resulted in a 180-79 win for the Cumberlands.

Cumberlands opens its 2019-20 season in the dual meet.
