The Rev. Al Hardy to speak at CU chapel By Ariel C. Emberton Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville College 1957 alumnus the Rev. J. Alvin Hardy is scheduled to speak at the Heritage Day chapel service Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at 10amET in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville. Hardy will speak about the 113 years of heritage at Campbellsville University, which he has been a part of for over 60 years. Hardy serves as associate pastor of Good Hope Baptist Church in Taylor County where he also served as senior pastor from 1990 until his retirement in September 2013. Since his retirement, he has served as the interim pastor at Columbia Baptist, Summersville Baptist and Vine Grove Baptist churches. Hardy has served on several mission trips including ones to Russia, Venezuela, the Philippines and Kenya. His preaching career began at Goshen Baptist Church in 1958. He also pastored at Hillcrest Baptist in Frankfort until he began working at Campbellsville College in 1968. He retired from Campbellsville University in 2001 after 43 years of service. While employed at Campbellsville College, now Campbellsville University, Hardy served in various roles including: director of admission and financial aid, acting student life vice president, advancement vice president, vice president of business affairs and treasurer, vice president for development, director of center for educational enhancement and instructor and dean of academic support. He has received several honors including an honorary doctorate from Cincinnati Metropolitan College, the distinguished alumni award from Campbellsville College and served as grand chaplain of the Kentucky Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. Hardy has been a member of the National Association of Developmental Education, Kentucky Association of Developmental Education, Campbellsville Chamber of Commerce, Southern Association of Colleges and University Business Officers and National Association of College Auxiliary Services. Hardy is a 1955 graduate of Vine Grove High School. He attended Campbellsville College from 1955 to 1957 and received his bachelor of arts from Georgetown College in 1961. In 1966 Hardy attended The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and received his master of arts in July 1976 from Western Kentucky University. Hardy and his wife, Peggy McKnight Hardy, a 1974 graduate of Campbellsville University, live in Campbellsville and have three children, Pam Hardy, Jim Hardy and Kathy Snow, who are all graduates from Campbellsville University. Jim Hardy is director of athletics at Campbellsville University, and his daughter-in-law, McKenzy, who just had a son, James Dawson Hardy, is employed with Barnes & Noble College Booksellers. His wife, Lorri, is secretary for football, baseball, soccer and human performance at the university; and the Rev. Hardy's granddaughter, Holly Durham Rothacker, is employed in the Office of Enrollment. Hardy is the son of the late James A. and Dona Hardy of Campbellsville. Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through a variety of informative speakers and presentations. All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10 and digital channel 15) and are streamed live on the internet at wlcutv.com.
