LWC Men's Swimming finishes 2nd at LWC Fall Frenzy

The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team finished in second place at the 2019 LWC Fall Frenzy at the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center on Saturday.

The Blue Raiders scored a total of 825 points, putting them in second place behind Olivet Nazarene (IL) who accumlated 975 points in their first place finish. Campbellsville (KY) finished in third with 664 points, while Bethel (TN) finished in fourth with 286 points.


James de Goede, Reece Kincaid, Jordan Schaeffer and Tyler King kicked off day two with an A-cut time of 1:40.69 for second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The grouping of William Thilwind, Michael Peck, Connor Barton and Ricky Dungan also took park in the event as they finished in third with a time of 1:43.07. The time was also a national A standard.

In the 800-yard freestyle relay the quartet of de Goede, Dungan, King and Kincaid finished in second place at an A-cut pace of 7:24.81. Thilwind went on to record an A-cut for the Blue Raiders in first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a finish of 1:58.32.

Kincaid earned the first individual A cut standard as he raced his way to a second-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley at 4:23.08. The freshman from Durban, South Africa later earned a B standard during the 100-yard breaststroke with his first-place finish time of 1:01.61. Kincaid also notched a B-cut in the 1650-yard freestlye with a second place finish of 17:27.43.

Thilwind and de Goede finished in first and second of the 100-yard backstroke. Thilwind tallied an A standard time of 53.60 while de Goede finished in 56.53 seconds. The Blue Raiders nearly swept the podium as Peck touched the wall in 57.92 for fourth place. De Goede finished in first place in the 100-yard freestyle, notching a B-cut with a time of 49.14.

De Goede touched the wall in second place of the 200-yard freestyle relay with his time of 1:51.67 as Dungan, King and Peck finished in fourth, fifth and sixth out of the 13 competitors. De Goede finished in first place in the 100-yard freestyle, notching a B-cut with a time of 49.14. Dungan and King would finish third and fourth, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle for Lindsey Wilson.

The quartet of Kincaid, Thilwind, King, and de Goede finished the night off with another A-cut for the Blue Raiders when they finished in second place recording a time of 3:20.08 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Combined, the Lindsey Wilson men's and women's teams recorded 1,537 points, finishing in second place behind Olivet Nazarene who combined for 1,976.5 points.

The Blue Raiders swimming team will be back in action on Oct. 5 as they will face of against No. 4-ranked Cumberlands (Ky.) beginning at noon CT at the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center.
