Dueso propels Lindsey Wilson men's soccer to an 8-1 win

By Grace Blomstedt

Oscar Dueso's four goals propel the No. 14 Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team to an 8-1 victory over (RV) John Brown (Ark.) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

Lindsey Wilson struck first when Wendel Gabriel located Neville Morgan who then dribbled between John Brown defenders on the left-side of the penalty box to score in the 7th minute.

The Golden Eagles responded with a goal of their own just four minutes later. Amilcar Gonzalez played a cross from the right corner of the 18-yard box and found Jacob Zamarron in the penalty area where he played a header off the cross bar and into the goal.

The second Blue Raider goal came from a set piece in the 14th minute. Bruno Henrique found Oscar Dueso on a header at the near post to find the back of the net.

Morgan took the ball down the wing and found an open Henrique on a low pass at the top of the 18-yard box. There he slotted it passed the keeper for the third Blue Raider goal of the match in the 23rd minute.

The Blue Raiders dominated the second-half offensively, scoring five goals. LWC's defense was strong, limiting the Golden Eagle offense to nine shots, placing just one on goal.

Dueso recorded the first three goals of the half in the 48th, 50th, and 58th minutes. Akean Shackleford came off the bench and scored the last two goals of the match in the 65th and 67th minutes.

Renan Ramos, Morgan, Tajay Reid, Hugo Sias, and Gabriel each recorded an assist in the half. Seven Blue Raiders finished the match with at least one point.

The Blue Raiders are back in action against No. 16 Mobile on Sept. 20 at 4pmCT in Lawrenceville, Ga. at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.
