LWC Women's Soccer to take on Spring Arbor, John Brown By Brady Budke The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team returns to Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Sept. 12 to take on No. 4-ranked Spring Arbor (Mich.) and on Sept. 14 to take on No.13-ranked John Brown (Ark.) in the LWC Classic. The Blue Raiders (3-1-0) return to play after a commanding 6-2 victory over Milligan (Tenn.) on Sept. 7. Emelie Liljered leads the way for Lindsey Wilson, as she scored two goals in the 16th & 17th minutes. Blue Raiders goalkeeper Eveljn Frigotto recorded five saves on the night. The Blue Raiders have six players who have scored at least one goal this season, while three Blue Raiders have recorded at least one assist. Emelie Liljered, Flavia Laich, and Sina Cavelti all lead the Blue Raiders in goals with two apiece, with Cavelti also leading the team in assists with three. Goalkeeper Eveljn Frigotto has 26 saves on the season, which sits second best in the Mid-South Conference. No. 4-ranked Spring Arbor (3-2-0) returns to action after being defeated by No. 16-ranked Northwestern Ohio 2-0 on Sept. 6. The Cougars have nine players this season who have scored at least one goal, while eight have recorded at least one assist. Lexi Ponstein sits tied for third in the Crossroads League with four assists this season. Emily Ponstein & Samantha Tracey have split even time as the Cougars goalkeeper, with Tracey having eight saves compared to Ponstein's three. No. 13-ranked John Brown (3-1-0) returns to action after defeating Columbia (Mo.) 1-0 on Sept. 7. Five Golden Eagles have recorded at least one goal this season, while seven have recorded at least one assist. Kristen Howell leads the Golden Eagles in points with five and also sits tied for first in team goals with two. Goalkeeper Caitlyn Logan has recorded 11 saves on the season, which sits fifth-best in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The LWC Classic at Walter S. Reuling Stadium begins at 5pmCT on Thursday, Sept. 12, as No.7-ranked Martin Methodist (Tenn.) faces John Brown. Following that match, Lindsey Wilson faces off against Spring Arbor. The Classic continues on Saturday, Sept. 14, as Spring Arbor faces Martin Methodist at 6 p.m. CT. Following the match, Lindsey Wilson plays John Brown.
