Revisit Knifley Festival is this weekend

The 6th annual Revisit Knifley Festival and Homecoming begins this weekend with a full schedule of events. Activities begin Friday night with a fish fry at the Knifley Emmaus Camp (former Knifley School building) located at 12190 Knifley Road, Knifley, KY, beginning at 5pmCT. A gospel singing featuring The Blakey's from Russell Springs and Through the Fire from Summersville will be held under the big tent right off of HWY 551 near the old school campus. The singing will begin at 6pmCT.

Saturday morning events will begin at 7amCT with a big country breakfast served at the old school. The festival will feature numerous vendors, live music, a car and tractor show and free childrens activities including a pedal tractor pull.


A veterans recognition will take place at 12:30pmCT, and an auction will be held at 4:30pmCT. The night will end with a large fireworks display at dark.

Everyone is invited to travel to the beautiful Knifley community to enjoy this event. More specific information can be found on the Revisit Knifley Facebook page.

Epicurean Kentuckian: Fried Fish

Fish dinner is underway at the fish fry at the Revisit Knifley festival, and the singing is about to begin. Activities will pick up again first thing in the morning, and culminate with a fireworks show tomorrow night.

Mr. Joe Spires, standing, chatted with Knifley acquaintances in the old Knifley School where fish dinners were the most popular items on the menu as the Revisit Knifley celebration kicks off. He will be 99 this coming November and still enjoys driving.

Nathaniel Cravens among early Revisit Knifley visitors

The Revisit Knifley festival set up Friday night and among the early visitors was three-year-old (almost four) Nathaniel Cravens who enjoyed having the run of the maze and then he tried out the little-people's rides. He was there with his grandparents.

Blooming Chapel Church raising money for youth programs

You'll find these folks in the Bloomington Chapel Church booth at Revisit Knifley today, Saturday, September 7, 2019 selling baked goods and more to raise funds for the Church youth. Tralisa Foster, at left, was proud her son Matt came home from having just gotten started on a Veterinary track at UK, to help out. Others working the booth, under the tent, are: Amanda Tooley, Preston Spoon, Keaton Burton, Christy Burton, Robin Piercy and Martie Spoon, youth leader.

The Franklin family attended Revisit Knifley and these expressions pretty much tell their story -- checking out everything going on at a festival when you're three and one is hard work even if you do get carried by your parents. There's just so much to see and do! Conner, at left, and Caden Franklin, are one-year old twins. Their big sister Brynlee, is three. They are the little ones of Robin and Jonathan Franklin of Columbia.

Judy Burton had a special connection to the Revisit Knifley festival, she is a graduate of Knifley School where the food was being served and was a cheerleader in this very gym. Randall started out in the two-room Christine School, behind McQuearys Store. They live in the Cane Valley community.
