Sebastian Torres to speak at Campbellsville University By Scarlett Birge Campbellsville, KY -. Sebastian Torres, president of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies and third-year law student at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University, will speak for the first Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy (KHIPP) event of the fall semester at Campbellsville University on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Torres will elaborate on "Free Speech in the Age of Donald Trump" at 5:30pmET in the Badgett Academic Support Center (BASC) at 110 University Drive, Campbellsville, KY. The public is invited. His presentation will analyze the current state of free speech in the United States while examining the fundamentals behind free speech on campus. The event is being held as a part of the KHIPP, which has been established for purposes of focusing attention on and debate of public policy issues at the regional, state, national and international level. In addition to his presentation, Torres will be meeting with students during American Constitutional Development class taught by Dr. Shawn Williams, associate professor of political science, at 11 a.m. as well as participating in a Dialogue on Public Issues with Dr. John Chowning, executive assistant to the president for government, community and constituent relations, at 2 p.m. at WLCU-TV on campus. Torres holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Eastern Kentucky University, where he was actively involved in the student government association and several other student political organizations. He served for nearly three years as the student representative on the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education Board. He promoted the passage of the Kentucky Campus Free Speech Act in the 2019 legislative session and was invited to the White House to take part in the president's signing ceremony for the executive order addressing campus free speech.
