LWC Volleyball faces Shawnee State and Pikeville this week By Brady Budke The No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team begins Mid-South conference play this week as they hit the road in back-to-back days. The Blue Raiders will face off against Shawnee State on Wednesday at 5pmCT in Portsmouth, OH, and will face off against Pikeville on Thursday at 5pmCT in Pikeville, KY. The Blue Raiders (6-2) suffered their first two losses of the season at the Spartan Invitational this past Friday and Saturday, where they were defeated by No. 4-ranked Missouri Baptist and No.5-ranked Viterbo (Wis.). Lindsey Wilson was able to record a victory over No. 8-ranked Midland (Neb.) during the Invitational. During the three games at the Spartan Invitational, Kasia Niderla lead the team with 40 kills, while Elly Burke recorded a second-best 33 kills. Peyton Johnston lead the team with 50 digs, while Elly Burke recorded a second-best 36 digs. With her performance for the Blue Raiders, Niderla was named Mid-South Conference Attacker of the Week. Shawnee State (2-7) lost their first seven matches of the season but come into the match with the Blue Raiders on a two-match winning streak, with victories over Bluefield (Va.) and Rio Grande (Ohio). Macie Rhoads leads the Bears this season with 118 kills, which is the second best in the Mid-South Conference. Stacie Martin leads the Bears with 125 digs, which is tied for fifth best in the conference. Pikeville (4-3) faces Campbellsville (Ky.) on Tuesday before facing the Blue Raiders on Thursday. Noelani Simpson leads the Bears this season with 165 kills, which is the most in the Mid-South Conference. Simpson also leads the Bears with 121 digs, which is the seventh best in the conference.
