CPD: Meth arrest

By Officer Adam Cravens

The Columbia Police Department received a complaint on Saturday, August 31, 2019, of a female subject passed out in a vehicle along with another male and small child parked in a gravel lot near Sleep Inn and Goodwill.

When officers responded, the vehicle was no longer in the area. However, a vehicle matching the initial description was later located at FiveStar on Hudson Street, and contact was made with a male and female who had a three year old male child with them.

Search of the vehicle yielded finding of narcotics, drug paraphernalia and a crystal substance consistent with methamphetamine.

Brandi Roberts, 22, and Joshua Wethington, 21, both of Liberty, were taken into custody with charges including possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance unidentified, possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine, and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Social Services were notified because of the presence of the child. He was later placed in the care of a grandmother.

Officer Evan Burton was the arresting Officer. He was assisted on scene by Officer Jordan Dean, Trooper Allen Shirley, and Officer Adam Cravens.
