Ronald Gregory Allen, 66, Grove Ridge, KY (1953-2019)

Ronald Gregory Allen of the Grove Ridge Community, passed away on August 22nd, 2019. After battling cancer for 6 months and 3 weeks, he died peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was 66 years old.

Funeral Services will be held at 2pmET on Sunday, August 25th, 2019, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY Hwy 49, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Kevin Pittman, Bro. Joe Hixson and Bro. Ed Bray officiating. Burial will follow in the Grove Ridge Cemetery, with Military Rites performed by the Casey County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held from 5pmET until 8pmET on Saturday, August 24, 2019, and after 9amET on Sunday, August 25th, 2019, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.


Ronald was born on March 10th, 1953 in Campbellsville, KY to Thad and Lorene Wood Allen who survive. He was beloved husband of Jacqueline Watts Allen whom he married on December 29th, 1979. A precious son, Andrew David Allen who preceded him in death on November 15th, 2018. Andrew was the center of Ronald's life.

Ronald was a proud grandfather of three, he spent many days caring for them. Myles Carter Allen, Cooper Brooks Allen and Myla Kate Allen and their mother, Laura Wilson.

He is survived by sister Charlene West and brother Neal Allen, mother in law Helen Jean Watts. He was also preceded in death by his beloved father in law Billie Watts.

He was the dear brother in law of Terri (David) Wright, Randy (Aleisha) Watts and Ricky (Beverly) Watts and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.

Ronald was a proud member of the U.S. Army and retired from the Army Reserves as a Staff Sergeant. He was employed in the Physical Plant at Centre College for 15 years, after working as a self employed carpenter for many years.

Ronald was a member of Grove Ridge Baptist Church and served as Song Leader. He loved children, and loved to tease and keep them laughing. Ronald had a good heart and will be missed by many.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to "Ronald Allen Memorial Educational Account" at Farmer's Deposit Bank for his grandchildren, Myles, Cooper and Myla Kate.
