Glasgow hot air balloon festival is September 21

Glasgow, KY - Entertain Glasgow, a Glasgow volunteer group, is excited to announce the first ever hot air balloon festival to take place in Glasgow. The Groove & Glow Fest will start at 4pmCT on Saturday, September 21 at the Glasgow Municipal Airport - Moore Field.

The family event will kick off at 4pmCT, beginning with numerous kids' activities, food trucks, and an array of hot air balloons. There will be balloons to admire, as well as tethered rides for attendees, and a balloon glow at dusk. The evening will culminate with live music by country recording artist Adam Doleac. Doleac has made a name for himself as a Nashville singer and songwriter and has had his songs cut by artists including Kane Brown and Darius Rucker.

The title sponsor for the event is T.J. Regional Health, which celebrates its 90th birthday in September.

"What better way to celebrate a big birthday than with big balloons, music, and food," said Neil Thornbury, CEO of T.J. Regional Health. "This is our way of giving back and celebrating with the community that has helped to sustain our organization for 90 years."

Admission to the event is free, but donations of nonperishable food items and money will be accepted to support the Community Relief Food Pantry ahead of the upcoming holiday season. Tethered balloon rides, food, beverages, souvenirs, and raffle tickets will be available for purchase.

This event is made possible through a collaboration of a wide array of local sponsors, in addition to the City of Glasgow, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Glasgow Municipal Airport. The event is 100 percent run by volunteers, many of whom have been in the planning stages for several months.

Katie Hawks, Coordinator for Entertain Glasgow, said the group was excited that the city wanted to keep these events going.

"There are many people who work very hard to make these events come to fruition, and it is all worth it seeing the happy faces at our events. The fact we can offer them for free to the community is like icing on the cake," she said. "When the hot air balloon event was talked about and T.J. Regional Health showed interest in being the title sponsor to celebrate their 90th birthday, it all clicked into place and we started planning!"

More information about the event can be found at facebook.com/entertainglasgow. Additional sponsors and volunteers are needed, and several sponsorship levels are still available. Anyone interested in sponsoring the event or volunteering on September 21 should contact Katie Hawks at 270.925.0244 or entertainglasgow@gmail.com
