A day of volunteer service being planned by City

By Tiffany Collins

"Be The Change," the City of Columbia movement for continuous improvement, is growing in the community and this is to announce a day of service to others is planned on September 21, 2019.

"We realize that people want to be involved in our community and help others," said Mayor Pamela Hoots. "We will be working with area church volunteers to have a day of service."

The day will be designated to help the elderly, families, disabled, and others in our community who have no support network. People will be doing small projects for others.

Churches will be referring people in their congregations and/or neighborhoods who need assistance. Volunteers will meet at the City Park; and, disburse from that location to do project for a period of three hours and then return for a picnic lunch and leave for the day.

If you and/or your church would like to participate, please contact Ann Marie Austin at City Hall.
