Adkins named Lindsey Wilson Cheer & Dance coach By Chris Wells Vanessa Adkins has been named head coach of the Lindsey Wilson cheer and dance programs, athletic director Willis Pooler announced on Wednesday. Adkins takes over the Blue Raider programs after a very successful stint at Campbellsville University from 2006-15. "I'm extremely excited about the opportunity to be the next head coach for LWC cheer and dance," Adkins said. "This is something that I have been passionate about my whole life. I want to thank Willis Pooler and Dr. Bill Luckey for extending this opportunity to me. "I'm looking forward to meeting all the student-athletes I will be working with," Adkins added. "I can't wait to get started," Adkins directed Campbellsville to five Mid-South Conference championships (2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2015) during her time with the Tigers. She was named MSC Cheerleading Coach of the Year five times. "The hiring of Vanessa Adkins as our head cheer and dance coach was an easy choice for me," Pooler said. "She will bring a tremendous amount of experience and professionalism to our programs. "It also shows a commitment to move our programs forward within our conference and the NAIA in competitive cheer and dance," Pooler added. "She understands and is committed to our mission and will be an excellent mentor for our student-athletes. I know she is excited about this opportunity and we are excited to have her." As a student-athlete, Adkins cheered one season at the University of Kentucky. She was a member of the 1992 UCA National Championship Cheer squad at Greenup County High School. In addition to her new role with Lindsey Wilson, Adkins works as a math interventionist at Campbellsville Elementary School. Adkins graduated from Morehead State University in 1998 and earned her Master of Education at Campbellsville University in 2006. Adkins and her husband, Lindsey Wilson's men's basketball coach Keith Adkins, have four children, Ashley, Bradley, Sarah, and Luke. This story was posted on 2019-07-25 18:55:00
