Hardin Co. man seriously injured after motorcycle collision

By Sheriff Josh Brockman
Adair County Sheriff's Office

On Friday, July 12, 2019, at 8:56amCT, the Adair County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Holmes Bend Rd and KY551.

Officers found that 31 year old Stephen Edwards of Hardin County was operating a 2008 Suzuki 1000 motorcycle north on KY 551 and failed to negotiate the curve. Edwards left the roadway, overturning the bike, and he was thrown from it.

Adair County EMS treated Edwards on the scene until air medical landed. Edwards was then taken to University of Louisville via Air Evac.

Edwards sustained serious head injuries and was not wearing a helmet at time of collision. Speed is suspected as a contributing factor , as witnesses stated the bike had been seen at high rate of speed prior to collision.

The incident is being investigated by Sheriff Josh Brockman. Kentucky State Police, the Columbia Police Department, and the State Highway Department all responded and assisted at the scene.
