Nearly $2 Million Available to Fight Violence Against Women

Grant program supports law enforcement, prosecution, judicial strategies and victim services

Frankfort, KY - Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Secretary John Tilley announced today that just under $2 million in federal funding is available through the Violence Against Women Act - Services, Training, Officers and Prosecution (VAWA STOP) Formula Grant Program.

VAWA STOP funds may be used to develop and strengthen law enforcement, prosecution, judicial strategies and victim services throughout Kentucky in cases involving violent crimes against women. That includes domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence. The funds are from the Office on Violence Against Women, a component of the U.S. Department of Justice.

The application period officially opens Aug. 1, 2019. Applications are due no later than 11:59pmET on Sept. 13, 2019, and the award period is scheduled to begin Jan. 1, 2020.


All applications must be submitted online via the Kentucky Justice Electronic Grants Management System.

New applicants are encouraged to establish an account and become familiar with the system well in advance of the due date. Applicants should also note that validating a new user account requires 48 to 72 hours.
