CPD: Friday evening traffic stop leads to drug arrests

By Officer Adam Cravens

On Friday evening, June 28, 2019, the Columbia Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Fairground Street in the vicinity of the former VFW. Upon speaking with individuals and conducting a search, officers charged two parties and placed them in custody.

Charles Scott McFarland, 40, of Columbia, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as trafficking a controlled substance methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance; both felonies.

Kathryn Hadley, 38, also of Columbia, was taken into custody on three active warrants from Russell and Adair Counties.

Hadley was also charged with giving false information to an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine.

Officer Evan Burton was the arresting Officer. He was assisted on scene by Officer Jamie Cole and Officer Adam Cravens.

NOTE: An arrest is not a finding of guilt. An individual placed under arrest is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.
