FM2 open, what fruits and vegetables are you up for? By Linda Waggener Gardens are coming in and the Farmers Markets are up and running. This morning, Saturday, June 15, 2019, the Farmers Market on the Square (FM2), the largest in Adair County, will be open from 8amCT until noon or sold out at the corner of Merchant and Campbellsville Streets in Columbia. I've tasted them before but never had the experience of preparing Nopales (Cactus Pads), which are ripe now and a few were gifted me along with fresh Cucumber and Zucchini. I did just as I was told and wore gloves to get them peeled - and just as I was told they could, the needles poked right through the gloves and into my fingers when I wasn't careful enough! After a quick learning session, at last the fruit was peeled, rinsed and ready to thoroughly enjoy! Happy hunting through all the fruits and vegetables available now!
