ACSO: Two arrested on felony drug charges By Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office The first arrest came on Saturday, June 1, 2019, when deputies responded to a residence 9 miles east of Columbia to investigate a complaint. As a result 46 year old Gerald Knight was arrested at 11:43pmCT on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Methamphetamine The second arrest stemmed from a traffic stop on the Veterans Memorial Bypass. Sheriff's Deputy Josh Durbin initiated a traffic stop on a 2006 Nissan. During the stop the deputy developed suspicion that there were illegal substances in the vehicle. K-9 Nitro gave a positive indicator of drug odor detected. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in Methamphetamine being discovered inside. Christopher Stephens, 36, of Russell Springs, KY, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree methamphetamine and following another vehicle too closely. Both suspects were lodged in the Adair County jail. NOTE: An arrest is not a finding of guilt. An individual placed under arrest is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding. This story was posted on 2019-06-04 10:15:20
