Sources of Strength program chooses three ACHS students By Robin Loy, College and Career Readiness Counselor, Adair County High School Adair County Schools has implemented the Sources of Strength (SOS) program in the KET series over the past year and kids have responded well to that program. Jenna Rodgers, 11th grade; Bree Butler, 10th grade; and Amber Loy, 9th grade; applied, were selected and will be in Hazard, KY this weekend, May 18-19, 2019 to work on Kentucky Educational Television's Sources of Strength program script review. SOS peer leaders have led multiple SOS campaigns throughout the school year. We have had tremendous support from Ms. Aimee Weddle, with the Adanta Regional Prevention Center in Somerset, KY and Mrs. Jelaine Harlow from Lake Cumberland District Health Department as we have rolled out SOS programming focused on increasing youth protective factors among teens. "The PACT is a 12-episode drama set in a Kentucky high school. The PACT episodes, which will be filmed in the Commonwealth, were written to counteract potential negative effects of the popular Netflix Original Show "Thirteen Reasons Why" and focus on increasing protective factors among youth around substance use, peer violence, bullying, suicide and other issues high school students often face. The PACT tells the story of a group of friends who make a PACT to help each other survive the trials and tribulations of high school." Jenna Rodgers, 11th grade; Bree Butler, 10th grade; and Amber Loy, 9th grade; are the Adair students who applied, were selected and will be in Hazard, KY this weekend, May 18-19, 2019 to work on Kentucky Educational Television's Sources of Strength program script review.
