LWC Softball competes against Grand View Tuesday morning By Benjamin Riegger No. 1-seeded Lindsey Wilson softball is set to compete against No. 3-seeded Grand View (IA) Tuesday morning at 11amCT in the winner's bracket of the NAIA Opening Round in Columbia, Kentucky. The matchup of USC-Beaufort and Saint Xavier is set to follow at 1:30pmCT at Marilyn D. Sparks Park, Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY. The Blue Raiders (47-2) advanced after defeating Saint Xavier (IL) 2-1 in an extra-inning matchup on Monday afternoon. The winner of the Lindsey/Grand View matchup advances to the NAIA Opening Round Championship game scheduled for 11amCT Wednesday. Lindsey Wilson enters the game with a .352 batting average, 69 home runs and 333 RBIs. Samantha Luckett proved to be the difference offensively in the Blue Raider first game of the opening round as she provided the two runs needed for the win with two solo home runs, including the game-winner in the top of the eighth inning. Annabelle Ramirez top-notched performance in the circle helped keep Lindsey Wilson in the game, pitching eight-innings allowing four hits and one run, while retiring eight batters. Grand View (45-10) earned a victory via the run-rule against USC-Beaufort (S.C.) 10-2 in six innings of work for the Vikings. The Vikings enter this matchup batting .325 with 64 home runs and 349 RBIs. Lauren Poortinga led the Vikings offense going 3-of-3 with one home run while driving in two RBIs. Lexi Merrit added in going 3-of-4 from the plate for Grand View.
