Letter: About the work on Hwy 163 Richard Raines writes: I know you have Metcalfe Co. contacts, and was wondering if you could find out from them about the closure of HWY 163 between Edmonton and Hwy 90. Signs are up that it will begin May 13th, would like to find out for how long. I drive that way to Tompkinsville 2 or 3 days a week, and I know there are other people that go back and forth between Adair and Monroe counties, and going through Burkesville is considerably longer than going through Edmonton. --RichardRichard, thanks for writing. We've posted information from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet here: KY 163 to close temporarily Note: The information below was originally published with the story, and is incorrect acording to the latest plans. KY 163 Tompkinsville Road: Contractors are expected to work on a project that will replace the bridge and approaches over Rogers Creek. The project is 0.5 miles in length and begins at Robertson Shaw Road extending north to Radford Martin Road. Motorists should be prepared for occasional delays due to flagging as work on this project continues. We also found a little additional information at GoKY. The project will require one-lane traffic with flaggers between Robertson Shaw Rd and Radford Martin Rd, but not complete closure of the road. The original date of completion was hoped to be May 17, but the start date was listed in April, and weather may have pushed that back considerably. We don't yet know whether the delayed start will also mean a delayed finish of the project. This story was posted on 2019-05-09 13:35:17
