KY CofC: Business community thanks Rep. Carney Commentary by Sawyer Coffey Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Frankfort, KY - During the Kentucky General Assembly's 2019 Legislative Session, lawmakers from both political parties introduced, debated, and voted for many pieces of legislation to help strengthen the Commonwealth's business climate. Representative John "Bam" Carney, who serves as Kentucky's House Majority Leader, voted to help grow job opportunities and spur economic growth in Kentucky 100% of the time. "Doing my part to help bring and retain jobs and opportunity to Adair and Taylor Counties has always been, and will continue to be, my priority in Frankfort." Carney said. Each year, the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce tracks legislation important to the business community and how Kentucky's 138 legislators vote on these bills. In their annual report, "Results for Business" the Chamber reports on those bills that came to the House floor for consideration. Carney's 100% voting record on these bills shows he spent the 2019 session serious about passing commonsense legislation to move Kentucky forward. Carney's 100% score is based on bills that range from strengthening education to addressing concerns about the tax code. "Kentucky's employers create not only jobs but opportunities for the people of our state. They invest in our communities and strengthen local economies," Kentucky Chamber President and CEO Dave Adkisson said. "We appreciate legislators in Frankfort like Leader Carney who understand the importance of making Kentucky a more business-friendly state." The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce is committed to advancing policies that help businesses thrive and make our economy strong. Results for Business, which includes the legislative scorecard, is published to help highlight policies taken up by the General Assembly that will help drive prosperity for Kentucky.
