DAY TRIP: a pragmatic trip to the Adair Recycling Center By Linda Waggener Adair Garden Club member, writer, environmentalist and sister in the "From Off" society, Mary Knight, requested a day trip that details going to the local recycling center. Usual CM Day Trip features are guides to going out, discovering beautiful landscapes and unique places. This pragmatic Day Trip feature is geared more toward helping us focus inward and keeping the landscape beautiful. The Adair County recycling center is open from 7am-3pmCT Monday through Friday at 62 Service Road, Columbia, KY. The Center accepts plastic bottles, cardboard, paper, steel, and aluminum cans. The Adair County Recycling Center is specific about plastic - the only plastics that can be taken in and managed at this time are plastic bottles. There are no methods for recycling pieces of plastic other than bottles. If plastic garbage is left at the recycling center, I'm told there that it goes in with general trash just as if it had been put in an individual's garbage. The Center does not have a glass recycling system. Pulaski County Recycling in Somerset does have, and there may be opportunities to partner in the future. David Beasley, Solid Waste Coordinator for Adair County, is open to questions and discussion. The Center phone number is 270-378-0782. The photos and directions linked to this story take readers from the Public Square in Columbia to the Adair County Recycling Center. This story was posted on 2019-05-06 04:38:53
