CPD: With two new officers, department fully staffed By Adam Cravens The Columbia Police Department swore in two new officers this morning. Mayor Pam Hoots and Chief Jason Cross officially swore in Trevor Foster and Evan Burton. Trevor Foster, 25, is a lifelong resident of the Sano Community in Adair County and previously worked at the Adair Youth Development Center. He will be sent to the Department of Criminal Justice Training Academy later this year. Evan Burton, 28, previously spent eight years with the Russell County Sheriff's Office and is a 2012 graduate of DOCJT. With the additions of Burton and Foster the Columbia Police Department is now fully staffed for the first time in nearly two years, after the retirement of former Sergeant Tracy McCarol and the departure of Officer Josh Brockman after his election to Sheriff last fall.
