Take a StoryWalk

By Debra Cowan

Take a stroll along the paved path at the Jim Blair Center, 901 Hudson Street, Columbia, KY, and discover an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful children's book. Pages from the book Be Kind, by Pat Zietlow, have recently been placed along the walking path and families are encouraged to visit the center to walk the path and read the story aloud with their children.

StoryWalk promotes family literacy and family fitness by allowing children and adults to enjoying reading and the outdoors at the same time. After completing the walk and reading the story, families are invited to visit the Adair Public Library, 307 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, to enter their child's name in a drawing to receive a copy of the book.

The StoryWalk project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg Hubbard Library.

The local StoryWalk is sponsored by the Adair County Public Library, Adair Elementary School Family Resource Center, WATCH Coalition and the Jim Blair Center. For more information about the local project, contact Lee Ann Jessie at the Adair Public Library at 270-384-2472 or Debbie Cowan at 270-384-9112.
