State Champs! ACHS Academic Team finishes in Top 5

For the first time ACHS is the only team in the state with three FPS competitors finishing in the Top 5 in the same year!

By Coach Brett Reliford

As the Adair County High School Academic Team prepares for their competition among the world’s best at the Future Problem Solving International Championships at the University of Massachusetts, the team received the final results of March’s KAAC State Championships.

On the last day of the event, three of ACHS’s team members competed in the Individual Future Problem Solving State Championship. After a month of evaluations, the results have come in, and every team member finished in the Top 5.

This is the first time ACHS has had three FPS competitors finish in the Top 5 in the same year, and they are the only team in the state to claim this feat.

In the Senior Division (Grades 10-12) Arabella Caldwell finished 2nd overall in the State.

Teammate Chris Stuchell finished in 5th Place.

Amber Loy, in her first year of competition, placed 3rd overall in the State in the Middle Grades Division (Grades 7-9).

All three competitors along with teammate Christina Kessinger will be competing as a team at Internationals June 5-9, 2019.
