Blinkhorn tied for first at Phoenix Invitational

Old Hickory, TN - Lindsey Wilson men's golf sits in fifth place of a 13 team field after the first day of competition at the Phoenix Invitation held at the Old Hickory Country Club, a par 71 course that registers 6,617 total yards.

The Blue Raiders combined to shoot 14-over par (298), nine strokes off the lead as host school Cumberland (Tenn.) posted a five-over par score of 289. Martin Methodist (Tenn.) sits in second after shooting a 291 as Union (Tenn.) is in third place following the first round of action.


Callum Blinkhorn posted his 15th under-par round of the season today after shooting a 2-under par score of 69 to finish in a tie for first place with Jordan Botwinick of Union College. Blinkhorn pared his first nine holes of the day and then scored four birdies and two bogies across his final nine holes.

Callum Burns posted an even-par round of 71 to sit in a four-way tie for sixth place. After nine holes Burns sat at two-over par but he was able to battle on the back nine to record three birdies and just one bogey.

Jeremiah Hayes carded a 6-over par round to finish day one in a tie for 29th. Morgan Grace turned in an 81 stroke round over the first 18-holes as Etienne Rensburg finished one stroke behind with an 82.

The Blue Raiders are set to close out the final round of the Phoenix Invitational Tuesday morning at 9amCT with a shotgun start.
