LWC Men's Track and Field at 2 events over the weekend By Christopher Coombs The Lindsey Wilson men's track and field team competed at a pair of events over the weekend, sending competitors to the Emory Classic on Friday and Saturday in Atlanta, Georgia and the Centre Invite in Danville, Kentucky on Saturday. The Blue Raiders finished in sixth place at the Emory Classic and in third at the Centre Invite as they recorded eight first-place finishes, three A-Cuts and one B-Cut on the weekend. -Emory Invitational- Kevin Hallmon led off the Blue Raiders with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 10.55 seconds for an A-cut standard. Holt Keeling chipped in finishing in fifth with a time of 11.14 seconds. Pierre Ezanno claimed an individual A-cut standard in the men's triple jump, with a 14.85-meter jump capturing first place finish. Both the 4x100 men's relay and the 4x400 relay captured first place finishes in their respective events. In the 4x100 relay, the Blue Raiders finished in 41.35 seconds for an A-cut standard while in the 4x400 relay finished with a B-cut standard in 3:16.35. Christian Whitehead and Jaylun Wallace added in with top-10 finishes in the 400-meter dash. Whitehead finished in sixth place with a time of 48.85 seconds, while Wallace finished in 49.91 to place 10th. -Centre College Invitational- In the 100 meter dash, three Blue Raiders achieved top-10 finishes in Mishi Easterling, Landon Saum and Damon Durrah. Easterling captured fourth place finishing in 11.64 seconds, while Saum finished right behind Easterling in 11.76 seconds. Durrah added a seventh-place finish in 11.89 seconds. Hunter Watkins and Devon Hall finished in the top-10 in the 200-meter dash with Watkins crossing the line in 23.50 seconds for fifth place and Hall finishing in ninth in 24.43 seconds. Watkins added a first-place finish in the 400 meters run finishing in 51.01 seconds, while Hall contributed with a seventh-place finish in 52.48 seconds. In the 800 meter run, Daniel Fakunle earned a seventh-place finish in 2:04.68. Three Blue Raiders finished in the top-10 in the 5,000 meter run in Jim Headrick, Jonathon Long and Seth Hardwick. Headrick captured a first-place finish with a time 16:52.48 with Long finishing one spot behind after crossing the finish line in 16:53.84 seconds. Hardwick finished in sixth with a time of 17:31.83. Saum captured a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.07 seconds. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, two Lindsey Wilson student-athletes captured top-five finishes in Levi Owens and Jordan Tucker. The relay of Saum, Joshua Murdock, Fakunle and Durrah captured fourth place in the 4x400 relay in 3:38.51. In the men's field events, Austin Campbell, Cameron Thurman and Anthoney Hampton all finished in the top-10 in the shot put. Campbell captured fourth place with a throw of 13.08 meters with Thurman adding a fifth place with a 13.04-meter throw, while Hampton finished in eighth with a shot of 12.33 meters. Timothy Higgs earned a sixth-place finish in the discus, hurling the disc to 39.00 meters. Hampton and Higgs added two more top-10 finishes for the Blue Raiders in the hammer throw. Hampton finished in seventh, throwing the weight 39.77 meters, while Higgs added a 10th place finish with a throw of 37.33 meters. Thurman and Austin Sparrow both earned top-10 finishes in the javelin throw for the Blue Raiders. Thurman threw for 39.34 meters finishing in sixth, while Sparrow added in with a 38. 25-meter throw for an eighth-place finish.
