LWC Softball hosts Pikeville this weekend

The Lindsey Wilson softball team hosts Pikeville (KY) on Friday, March 29 at 2pmCT and Sunday, March 30, 2019, at 1pmCT, at Marilyn D. Sparks Park, Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY.

The games originally were scheduled for Friday and Saturday but due to impending weather, Saturday's matchup is moved to Sunday starting a 1pmCT.

The Blue Raiders (19-1, 4-0 MSC) returns to the dirt after sweeping Cumberlands (KY) on Friday and Saturday, March 22-23.


Robust pitching of the Blue Raiders proves to be a difference maker with opposing batters being held to a .211 batting average. Lindsey Wilson pitching has only given up 42 runs in 20 games while striking out 107 batters and only walking 18. Strong offensive attacks with big hits help surge with the Blue Raider with 29 home runs while batting .347.

Annabelle Ramirez continues to lead the team with a .98 earned run average while striking of 45 opposing batters on 35.2 innings pitched. Hannah Epperson is chipping in with a 1.02 earned run average while striking out 35 batters in 41 innings of work.

Callum Pilgrim continues her strong plate presence with a .507 batting average with nine doubles, six home runs while driving in 24 RBIs. Jaydee Boursaw is chipping in with a .484 batting average with 10 home runs and 24 RBIs while Makea-Al Kaluau adds in batting .414 with six home runs and 22 RBIs.

Pikeville (16-6, 2-0 MSC) returns to action after defeating Midway (KY) 5-2 and 9-8 on Thursday evening. The Bears boast a strong pitching staff holding opposing batters to a .207 batting average. Pikeville's offense is proving it can hold its own with a .310 batting average while driving in 122 RBIs.

Megan Claypoole leads Pikeville with a 1.11 earned run average while striking out 86 batters in 75.2 innings of work. Hannah Skaggs contributes with a 1.63 earned run average while striking out 68 batters on 73 innings pitched.

Jordan Gentry and Haley Osborne lead the Bears offensive attack with Gentry batting .388 with 14 RBIs and Osborne hitting .369 with 18 RBIs.

Friday's matchup marks the 55th meeting of the two programs with Lindsey Wilson leading with a 45-9 record. The last meeting occurred in 2018 season in which LWC defeated Pikeville 5-0 and 7-3.
