KSP: Casey Co. traffic stop leads to drug arrest By Tpr. Nick Hale Liberty, KY - On Saturday, March 23rd, 2019, at approximately 11:09pmCT, Trooper Billy Begley was on routine patrol four miles west of Middleburg on Short Town Rd when he initiated a traffic stop on a 2003 Chevy Impala for a traffic violation. Consent to search the vehicle was given, resulting in Trooper Begley locating digital scales and a small plastic container with suspected methamphetamine inside of it. Benjamin McKinney, age 35, of Liberty, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense (drug unspecified), and possession of drug paraphernalia. McKinney was lodged in the Casey County Detention Center. NOTE: An arrest is not a finding of guilt.
