LWC Baseball shuffles schedule, hosts Pikeville Thu/Fri By Clayton Barefield The Lindsey Wilson baseball team shuffled its schedule for their weekend Mid-South Conference series against Pikeville (KY) at Egnew Park, Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY. The series was originally slated for a solo game on Friday followed by a Saturday doubleheader. The weather forecast for Saturday forced the games to move up a day. The series is now set for a Thursday doubleheader beginning at 3pmCT, with a solo game on Friday at NoonCT. Lindsey Wilson (6-18, 1-5 MSC) returns to Columbia, KY after defeating Midway (KY) 10-3 on Tuesday afternoon. Five Blue Raiders led the team with two hits each during Tuesday's contest. Chris Koutsoubos recorded three RBI's as the designated hitter to lead Lindsey Wilson to a victory. LWC outhit Midway 14-6 during Tuesday's matchup. As for the season, Derek Marrufo continues to lead the team with a .365 batting average. Steven Calderon is second in batting average (.306) and leads the team with 26 hits, 22 RBI's, nine doubles and five home runs. Austin Rayno is the runs leader for LWC, crossing home plate 18 times. Rayno is batting .287 this season and has connected on 25 hits. Rayno has a perfect 4-for-4 stolen base record as well. Francisco Arias has recorded a team-leading three wins this season on the bump adding 14 strikeouts and a 5.11 ERA. CJ Lent, Vincent Boils, and Kelvin Guzman have all snagged a victory as well. Guzman is the strikeout leader, recording 22 strikeouts in 27.2 innings of work. Pikeville (12-15, 1-2 MSC) comes into the series after splitting a two-game series against Montreat (N.C.) on Tuesday. The Bears have outscored their opponents 200-186 this season. As a staff, Pikeville holds a 6.82 earned run average. Opponent batters are hitting .310 against the Bears. Jay Vincent leads the Pikeville bats with a .369 batting average, while also recording 31 hits and 32 RBI's. Tyler Menrath leads the team in hits (35) and runs scored (30), batting for .324 on the season. Collectively, the Bears own a .286 batting average and have five student-athletes batting above .300. The Blue Raiders were able to win just one of the three contests at Pikeville, last season.
