LWC Women's outdoor track and field finishes 2nd

Lexington, KY - The women's outdoor track and field team finished in second place at the Pioneer Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The women's team earned seven first-place finishes and one A-cut standard while earning 111 team points. Hanover (IN) took first place with 123.5 team points.


Alexia DeHaven-Boyd led the women runners with two first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash finishing in 12.54 seconds, while in the 400-meter hurdles, she finished in 1:05.50. DeHaven-Boyd broke the stadium record in the 400-meter hurdles which was set by Addie Johnson of Rose-Hulman in 2015.

Paige Pettel led the women field events with two first-place finishes in the shot put and discus. In the shot put, Pettel threw for 13.60 meters, achieving her first A-cut of the season. In the discus, Pettel threw the disc 39.15 meters for her second first place of the day.

In the 800 meter run Dezare Jackson earned a third-place finish finishing in 2:31.67, while Meredith Johnson added a sixth-place finish in 2:36.56.

In the 4x100 meter relay, the team of Safia Bright, Marie Ninamou, DeHaven-Boyd, and Jordan Nelson earned a first-place finish in 48.71 seconds. The team of Annesha Harris, Jahila McNealy, Oreatha Hurt, and Aiyanna Drake finish in fifth in 51.88 seconds.

The team of Bright, Ninamou, Carley Johnson and DeHaven-Boyd earned a first-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay in 4:13.99.

In the Javelin throw, Sina Cavelti garnered a first-place finish with a throw of 36.24 meters. Alexis Mckee added in with a sixth-place finish in 23.78 meters.

Cavelti added a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.13 meters. De'jah Smith finished in fifth in the discus with a throw of 36.48 meters.

In the hammer throw, Pettel finished in fifth with a throw of 43.14 meters, while Smith finished sixth with a 43.11 meters throw.

The Lindsey Wilson women's track and field team is back in action on March 30 at the Hanover Invite in Hanover, Indiana.
